Detailed information

Your first visit at the dental practice

During a new patient's first visit to the dental practice, they get to know the dentist.

The dentist asks questions about the patient's general health. It is important to answer honestly so that the dentist can form an accurate and complete picture of their health.

If necessary, particularly when a medical condition is present, the dentist may contact the patient's treating physician for further information.

Dental X-rays may also be taken where needed.

The dentist and patient then discuss the problem that prompted the visit, followed by a clinical examination to identify it.

Finally, an appropriate individual treatment plan is developed and the necessary appointments are scheduled.

Oral hygiene advice

Correct brushing

Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Position the brush at about 45° towards the gumline, use gentle circular movements, and clean every tooth surface and the tongue. Your dentist can personalise the technique.

Floss and interdental brushes

Brushing alone cannot clean between the teeth. Gently guide floss along each tooth surface, avoiding injury to the gums. Interdental brushes may be suitable for larger gaps or dental restorations.
